Year in Food & Music

The Year in Food & Music

SCOTT WINEGARD

January 16, 2015 Colby Mancasola
scott-winegard

Scott Winegard is a chef at Matthew Kenney Cuisine and played bass in Texas Is The Reason.

What was the food highlight of your year?

Releasing Plant Food. It's always been on my wish list to write a cook book.

What was the music highlight of your year?

This year I got to see some bands I never thought I would see play, by the end of the year I will have seen Drive Like Jehu, Soul Side, Slint, and Slowdive. Being out on the west coast now more permanently, I seemed to focus more on the cooking than playing this last year. I did get to see some great music though and I even seemed to have a great time at a festival which I didn't think was possible.

Was there a moment when food and music came together in a memorable way?

There are always these weird little moments when at the restaurant someone will say hey someone asked if they can talk to me and it turns out it's someone that was a fan of Texas Is The Reason. Just a few days ago an Italian fellow came with his family and was at our last show in London. Our team had some interesting private cooking events for a few "superstars". One was at the LA sports arena and fed lunch to them in between their rehearsal there. That was pretty interesting to see. It's been great to see our plant based cuisine being more accepted these days.
